Isai Rosado Martinez, of the Town of Poughkeepsie, was arrested on Monday, Dec. 17, after Town of Poughkeepsie Police responded to a Kelsey Road apartment for a report of physical domestic violence after receiving a call from a 12-year-old girl, said Lt. Brian Wagner.
Once on the scene, officers determined that a physical altercation had taken place between Martinez and his girlfriend, who both live at the residence.
An investigation into the incident revealed that Martinez had assaulted and choked the girlfriend during the fight, said Wagner.
Martinez was arrested and charged with felony strangulation, criminal obstruction of breathing, assault, unlawful imprisonment, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
The couple has a six-month-old daughter who was present during the fight, and the victim has a 12-year-old daughter who also witnessed the attack.
Martinez was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
A temporary full stay away order of protection was served on Martinez during the arraignment on behalf of the victim.
